Next-Generation Firewall Engineer Practice Test
Five free mixed tests plus three domain drills for the current Palo Alto Networks NGFW Engineer blueprint. Each free test gives you 20 questions on a 24-minute clock. Use them to find the PAN-OS topic that needs work, then move to a 60-question full-length test when you want a longer benchmark.
Mixed sets — NGFW Engineer practice tests
Use these when you want all three domains in one short run. The current blueprint puts 40% of the exam score on PAN-OS Networking Configuration, another 40% on Device Setting Configuration, and 20% on Integration and Automation.
Domain-wise — focused NGFW Engineer tests
A mixed set finds the gap. These three tests let you stay on it. The topics below follow the November 2025 Palo Alto Networks datasheet, including newer objectives such as quantum-resistant cryptography, Cloud Identity Engine User-ID and AI Runtime Security.
Twenty questions finds the weak topic.
Sixty questions makes you stay with it.
The free tests are built for quick diagnosis. The full-length set keeps the current 40 / 40 / 20 blueprint across 60 questions and gives you a full 90-minute practice window. Ten fresh tests are available, so you can measure progress without leaning on one paper you already remember.
| Free tests on this page | Full-length tests | |

How to use these tests in your study plan
Use the short sets to decide what to study next. Save the longer tests for the point where you want to see whether your configuration decisions still hold after an hour.
Benchmark
Take two mixed sets before a heavy revision block. Ignore one-off misses. Look for the same PAN-OS area going wrong more than once.
Start with Practice Test 1 →Drill the domain
Move to the domain test that matches the pattern. If routing, HA or GlobalProtect keeps costing you questions, stay in Domain 1 until it stops doing that.
Open Domain 1 →Run the long benchmark
Once the 20-question sets stop exposing obvious gaps, switch to a 60-question paper with the full 90-minute clock. That is where concentration and second-guessing start to show.

The current Palo Alto Networks exam page points to a November 2025 datasheet and a July 2026 certification FAQ. Together they define the blueprint, price tier, delivery method and current retake rules.
What does the certification validate?
The Next-Generation Firewall Engineer is a Specialist-level Palo Alto Networks certification. It is aimed at engineers and administrators who configure PAN-OS networking and device settings, build policies and object configurations, integrate automation, and manage NGFW environments.
Palo Alto Networks recommends two to three years in an IT security-related field, including two years working with Palo Alto Networks NGFW solutions. The datasheet also lists Network Security Professional and Certified Network Security Analyst as recommended certifications.
Exam format
Level: Specialist.
Total seat time: 90 minutes.
Question format: Multiple-choice and multiple-select multiple-choice items.
Live question count: Palo Alto Networks does not publish a fixed count in the current NGFW Engineer datasheet or July 2026 program FAQ.
Passing score: 860 on the 300–1000 Palo Alto Networks scaled-score range.
Exam fee: US $250 for Specialist-level exams.
Delivery and renewal
Delivery: In person at Pearson VUE testing centers. Remote testing is no longer offered.
Language: English worldwide. Candidates testing in non-English-speaking countries receive a 30-minute extension by default.
Validity: Two years from the date you pass.
Failed-attempt waits: 15 days after the first failure, 30 days after the second, then 90 days after the third and later failures.
Recertification: Retake the certification exam before expiry. Passing a higher-level certification in the same track can automatically extend an active lower-level certification.
NGFW Engineer domain weights
The November 2025 blueprint changed the split to 40 / 40 / 20. Eighty percent of the exam score now sits in the two PAN-OS configuration domains.
| Domain | Current official weight | What the blueprint covers |
|---|---|---|
| 1. PAN-OS Networking Configuration | 40% | Interfaces, zones, HA, routing, GlobalProtect and tunnels |
| 2. PAN-OS Device Setting Configuration | 40% | Authentication, VSYS, logging, updates, certificates, User-ID and web proxy |
| 3. Integration and Automation | 20% | Deployment options, APIs, third-party automation, Panorama and reporting |
How our practice tests are written
Current objectives first. The topic map follows the November 2025 NGFW Engineer blueprint. That matters because older 38 / 38 / 24 material misses the current weighting and newer objective language.
Configuration questions, not trivia. The free sets are built around PAN-OS networking, device settings, integration and automation. A useful question makes you decide what fits the situation, not recite a product name.
Short sets for diagnosis. Twenty questions is enough to expose a recurring miss without spending your whole study block on one attempt. Once you know the weak domain, use its focused test and go back to the matching blueprint objectives.
No live exam questions. The questions are original practice material. Palo Alto Networks treats actual certification exam content as confidential examination material.
NGFW Engineer exam preparation
Study strategy
Give Domains 1 and 2 most of your time. They carry 40% each. Be comfortable with interfaces, zones, HA, routing and GlobalProtect, then move through logging, certificates, User-ID and device settings.
Lab the objectives that describe configuration. Reading about HA is different from configuring link monitoring and understanding why a failover occurred. Do the same for routing, GlobalProtect, certificates and Panorama.
Do not skip the newer bullets. Quantum-resistant cryptography, Cloud Identity Engine User-ID and AI Runtime Security are in the current datasheet. Older notes may not cover them.
Test-taking strategy
Read the requirement before chasing the product name. A scenario can contain several true statements. The task is to find the one that solves the stated routing, identity or management problem.
Slow down on multiple-select items. The current program FAQ confirms that Palo Alto Networks exams use both multiple-choice and multiple-select multiple-choice questions.
Use the domain report after a failed certification attempt. Palo Alto Networks says unsuccessful candidates receive performance information by exam domain. That report tells you where the next study block belongs.
Frequently asked questions
The current Palo Alto Networks certification FAQ sets total seat time at 90 minutes. Candidates testing in non-English-speaking countries receive a 30-minute English-as-a-second-language extension by default.
Palo Alto Networks does not publish a fixed live question count in the current November 2025 NGFW Engineer datasheet or the July 2026 certification FAQ. The official documents publish the 90-minute seat time, question formats and domain weights instead.
