FortiOS 7.6 Administrator (FortiGate admin / NSE 4) Practice Test
Free 20-question practice tests for the Fortinet NSE 4 - FortiOS 7.6 Administrator exam. Work through FortiGate configuration, policy and authentication, content inspection, routing, VPNs, and troubleshooting before you move to a full 52-question timed run.
Mixed set — FortiOS 7.6 Administrator practice tests
Use these first. Each set mixes FortiOS 7.6 administration topics so you can see whether the weak spot is policy logic, inspection, routing, VPNs, or the system itself.
Domain-wise — FortiOS 7.6 Administrator practice tests
Fortinet publishes percentage ranges for all five exam areas. Drill one area after a mixed test has already shown you where the gap is.
Twenty questions finds the weak area.
Fifty-two questions tests whether your pace holds.
Use the free sets for diagnosis. When you want a longer run, the paid practice tests use 52 questions in 80 minutes with a fixed five-area blueprint. Ten separate sets are available.

How to use these tests in your study plan
The order matters. A short test is good at diagnosis. A long test is good at exposing pacing and concentration problems.
Benchmark
Sit two mixed sets before you change your study plan. Look for the same topic area appearing in your misses more than once.
Start with Practice Test 1 →Drill the gap
Move to the matching domain-wise test. If content inspection is the problem, stay there until certificate inspection, web filtering, application control, antivirus, and IPS stop blending together.
Open Content Inspection →Dress rehearsal
Closer to exam day, sit a full 52-question test in one session. That is where you find out whether you can keep making clean FortiGate decisions after an hour on the clock.

Fortinet currently marks the 7.6 exam as available. The tested product version is FortiOS 7.6.0.
What the exam tests
Fortinet describes this as an applied FortiGate administration exam. Expect operational scenarios, configuration extracts, and troubleshooting captures rather than a paper built around feature definitions.
The July 15, 2026 NSE program change matters here. FCP, FCSS, and the older five-level structure were retired. Passing the FortiOS Administrator exam now maps to the NSE 4 certification.
Fortinet has also listed NSE 4 - FortiOS 8.0 Administrator for release in mid-September 2026. On September 8, the 7.6 exam is still available.

FortiOS 7.6 Administrator official topic ranges
Fortinet publishes ranges, not a single fixed percentage for each delivery. Content inspection is the largest area at 25–30%.
| Area | Official exam range | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Deployment and System Configuration | 20–25% | Initial setup, logs, HA, diagnostics, cloud FortiGate, FortiSASE |
| Firewall Policies and Authentication | 20–25% | Policies, SNAT, DNAT, LDAP/RADIUS, active/passive auth, FSSO |
| Content Inspection | 25–30% | SSL/SSH inspection, web filtering, application control, antivirus, IPS |
| Routing | 10–15% | Static routes, route-table decisions, redundancy, SD-WAN |
| VPNs | 10–15% | IPsec design, configuration, redundancy, logs, troubleshooting |
How our practice tests are written
Original questions, written to the FortiOS 7.6.0 scope. The question bank follows Fortinet's current topic areas without reproducing live exam content.
Administrator scenarios instead of vocabulary drills. Fortinet says the exam uses operational scenarios, configuration extracts, and troubleshooting captures. The useful practice question makes two answers look plausible until you work out which FortiGate layer actually controls the outcome.
Mixed sets for diagnosis, domain tests for repair. The free mixed tests expose the gap. The domain-wise tests give you somewhere to work on it without burning another full mixed set.
Timed at a practical study pace. The free 20-question sets run at about 36 minutes. That uses Fortinet's 50-question / 90-minute listing as the proportional reference.
FortiOS 7.6 Administrator exam preparation tips
Study strategy
Spend extra time on content inspection. At 25–30%, it is the largest published area. Know when FortiGate is doing certificate inspection versus full SSL/SSH inspection, and how that choice changes web filtering and security-profile behavior.
Connect policy, NAT and routing. A traffic-flow question often gives you evidence from all three. Treat them as one chain instead of three chapters.
Use the GUI and CLI together. Learn where you configure a feature and how you prove what FortiGate is doing after the fact. Logs, routing tables, packet sniffers, debug flow, and resource diagnostics all sit inside the current objectives.
Test-taking strategy
Read the traffic direction first. Source, destination, interface path, authentication state, and inspection mode usually remove half the answer choices before you touch the details.
Watch for the right feature in the wrong context. Fortinet distractors are often real features that solve a different problem. If the scenario says the session is already established, an answer about initial policy matching may be technically true and still miss the question.
Keep moving. Troubleshooting captures take longer than straight configuration items. Do not let one long output consume the time you need for five easier decisions later.
