The knowledge exam and CEH Practical are different assessments

The CEH certification is awarded after passing the 312-50 knowledge exam. CEH Practical is a separate, optional six-hour hands-on assessment with 20 challenges. These practice tests cover the knowledge exam only.

Blueprint v5.0 controls the coverage

EC-Council’s current exam blueprint divides the 125 questions across nine domains. Network and Perimeter Hacking is the largest at 30 questions, followed by Reconnaissance Techniques at 21 and System Hacking Phases and Attack Techniques at 19.

The current CEH course branding includes AI material, but the knowledge-exam bank on this page stays locked to the published 312-50 Exam Blueprint v5.0.

Official store voucher prices checked 28 September 2026.

Inside a test

Built for a four-hour CEH rehearsal

A short set can tell you whether you remember a topic. A full 125-question run tells you whether you can keep making good decisions after two hours of scanning, enumeration, web, network and defensive reasoning.

01How it is built

  • 125 scored questions in every test
  • 240-minute time limit
  • Single-answer multiple choice only
  • Exactly four options per question
  • All nine official CEH domains represented
  • Exact domain counts fixed across every set

02Question mix

  • 25 easy, 60 medium and 40 hard questions
  • At least 90 situational or applied items
  • Attack and defence reasoning both appear
  • Tool-purpose and evidence-interpretation questions
  • Methodology, countermeasure and protocol decisions
  • No live exam recall content

03What you review

  • Correct answer stored for every question
  • Two-to-four sentence explanation per item
  • Plausible distractors instead of throwaway choices
  • Questions mapped to domain and topic taxonomy
  • 75% used only as a practice-readiness marker
  • CEH Practical challenges are kept separate
A real question from Test 6

The explanation shows what the distractor is trying to make you miss

This question comes from the current CEH 312-50 bank, not a made-up page example.

Domain 4 · Network and Perimeter Hacking Sniffing Easy

A switch receives a frame from a new workstation and adds an entry to its forwarding table. Which field does the switch use to learn the workstation location?

  • AThe DNS query name
  • BThe frame source MAC address
  • CThe destination TCP port
  • DThe HTTP Host header

Why B

Ethernet switches learn forwarding entries from source MAC addresses observed on incoming frames. The destination TCP port is the tempting distractor because transport-layer port numbers do not determine Layer 2 forwarding-table learning.

Questions

About the CEH exam and these practice tests

The CEH exam

How many questions are on the CEH 312-50 exam?

125 multiple-choice questions. EC-Council gives four hours, or 240 minutes, for the knowledge exam.

What score do you need to pass CEH?

EC-Council publishes a passing-score range of 60% to 85%. The cut score depends on the difficulty of the exam form, so there is no single fixed live-exam percentage that applies to every candidate.

Is CEH v13 still the current version?

Yes. EC-Council currently presents the program as CEH v13 / CEH AI. The certification knowledge exam remains 312-50, and the current published exam blueprint is v5.0.

What is the difference between CEH and CEH Practical?

The CEH knowledge exam is 125 multiple-choice questions in four hours. CEH Practical is a separate optional hands-on assessment with 20 challenges in six hours. Passing both leads to the CEH Master designation.

What are the CEH eligibility requirements?

Completing official EC-Council training makes you eligible to attempt the exam. Self-study candidates need two years of information-security work experience, an approved eligibility application and the $100 application fee.

How much is the CEH exam voucher?

EC-Council’s store lists the remote RPS CEH voucher at $950 and the Pearson VUE voucher at $1,199. Those store prices were checked on 28 September 2026.

If I fail CEH, when can I retake it?

There is no waiting period before the second attempt. After a second failed attempt, EC-Council requires 14 days before the third, fourth and fifth attempts. The same exam cannot be attempted more than five times in a 12-month period; after that, the wait is 12 months.

How long is the CEH credential valid?

Three years. Renewal requires 120 EC-Council Continuing Education credits during the three-year ECE cycle.

These practice tests

Are these tests for the CEH knowledge exam or CEH Practical?

The knowledge exam. Each practice test contains 125 single-answer multiple-choice questions mapped to CEH 312-50 Exam Blueprint v5.0. CEH Practical is a separate hands-on assessment.

Why does the page show a 75% readiness benchmark?

It is an internal practice benchmark for these tests. It is not EC-Council’s official passing score. The live CEH exam uses form-dependent cut scores within EC-Council’s published 60% to 85% range.

What question format do these practice tests use?

Single-answer multiple choice with four options per question. Each full-length practice test contains 125 questions and runs for 240 minutes.

Do the questions include explanations?

Yes. Every question in the CEH bank carries a two-to-four sentence explanation alongside the keyed answer.

Where do the practice questions come from?

They are original practice questions written against the published CEH 312-50 Exam Blueprint v5.0. The bank excludes live-exam recall and keeps the scope on the knowledge exam rather than the optional Practical assessment.
