About Check Point Certifications
Check Point Software Technologies is one of the world's leading network security vendors — its Next Generation Firewalls protect a significant portion of Fortune 100 and Global 500 companies.
The Check Point Certification Path
The Check Point certification ladder runs from CCSA (Security Administrator) through CCSE (Security Expert) and onward to CCSM (Security Master). CCSA is the entry point and is required before attempting CCSE. From CCSE, professionals can extend their certification through Check Point's Infinity Specialist Accreditation (ISA) exams, which each extend validity by one year and eventually qualify candidates for CCSM status.
Check Point certifications are version-tied — exam codes change with major product releases (R81.20, R82, etc.). The current active versions are CCSA 156-215.81/156-215.81.20 and CCSE 156-315.82. The R81.20 CCSE version retires in June 2026.
Who Should Take These Exams?
CCSA — Best for firewall administrators, network security engineers, and IT professionals who manage or support Check Point Quantum Security Gateway environments. Six months of hands-on Check Point experience is strongly recommended before attempting the exam.
CCSE — Best for senior security engineers, network architects, and administrators who design and maintain enterprise Check Point deployments — including high-availability configurations, multi-gateway VPN architectures, and upgrade and migration procedures. The exam is approximately 80% course content and 20% hands-on product experience.
