What Microsoft currently measures on SC-300
The current skills outline took effect on April 27, 2026. SC-300 gives candidates 100 minutes and uses 700 or greater as the passing score.

Written to the current identity role
The April 2026 outline is built around Microsoft Entra administration. It covers user and hybrid identities, authentication and access, workload identities, plus identity governance.
The questions use current Microsoft Entra terminology and focus on decisions an administrator has to make: what to configure, what to investigate, and which control satisfies the stated constraint.
A 700 score is scaled. It does not mean exactly 70% of the exam must be answered correctly.
Two minutes per question. Enough time to reason, not drift.
SC-300 often puts closely related Microsoft Entra controls in the same answer set. The practice tests are built around that decision-making, not definition recall.
How it’s built
- 50 questions in a 100-minute practice window
- 12 user identity questions
- 14 authentication and access questions
- 12 workload identity questions
- 12 identity governance questions
- Six Select TWO questions in every test, scored all-or-nothing
Difficulty and answer format
- 10 easy, 24 medium and 16 hard questions
- Single-response and Select TWO questions
- Select TWO items are scored all-or-nothing
- No negative marking in these practice tests
- Scenario-led administration and troubleshooting decisions
- Same difficulty matrix across the series
What you get back
- An estimated 1–1000 practice score
- 700 used as the benchmark
- An explanation on every question
- The reasoning behind the correct choice
- Why the important alternative misses the requirement
One constraint usually separates the right control from the almost-right one
This is the SC-300 style the bank is built around: several Microsoft identity controls sound reasonable, but only one satisfies the full requirement.
A company requires users to complete MFA only when they access a sensitive application from an unmanaged device. Existing MFA registration must remain unchanged. Which control should the identity administrator configure?
- AChange the tenant-wide authentication methods policy for all users
- BCreate a Conditional Access policy for the application with the required device condition and MFA grant control
- CStart an MFA registration campaign for the users of the application
- DEnable self-service password reset registration for the application users
Why B
Conditional Access can scope the requirement to the sensitive application, evaluate device state, and require MFA. It meets the access condition without changing the user’s registered authentication methods.
Why A misses the requirement
The authentication methods policy controls which methods users can register and use. It does not express this application-and-device-specific rule. C changes registration activity, while D addresses password recovery.
Every 50-question test stays inside Microsoft’s current ranges
The fixed 12 / 14 / 12 / 12 split converts Microsoft’s percentage ranges into a repeatable practice test. The blueprint stays put from test 1 through test 10.
| SC-300 skill area | Microsoft weight | Questions per practice test | Practice share |
|---|---|---|---|
| Implement and manage user identities | 20–25% | 12 | 24% |
| Implement authentication and access management | 25–30% | 14 | 28% |
| Plan and implement workload identities | 20–25% | 12 | 24% |
| Plan and automate identity governance | 20–25% | 12 | 24% |
Authentication and access management gets the largest allocation: 14 of the 50 questions.
All 10 SC-300 full-length practice tests
Each test has 50 questions, a 100-minute practice window, six Select TWO questions, and the same four-area blueprint.
About SC-300 and these practice tests
The SC-300 exam
How long is the SC-300 exam?
Microsoft currently gives candidates 100 minutes to complete the SC-300 assessment.
What score do you need to pass SC-300?
A score of 700 or greater. Microsoft technical exams use scaled scoring on a 1–1000 scale, so 700 is not the same thing as answering exactly 70% of the questions correctly.
What does the current SC-300 outline cover?
The skills measured effective April 27, 2026 have four areas: Implement and manage user identities at 20–25%, Implement authentication and access management at 25–30%, Plan and implement workload identities at 20–25%, and Plan and automate identity governance at 20–25%.
If I fail SC-300, when can I retake it?
After the first failed attempt, Microsoft requires a 24-hour wait. Later failed attempts require a 14-day wait. The same exam can be attempted up to five times within 12 months from the first attempt.
How often does the Identity and Access Administrator Associate certification renew?
Microsoft role-based certifications renew every 12 months. Renewal is completed through a free online assessment on Microsoft Learn before the certification expires.
These practice tests
How many questions are in each full-length SC-300 practice test?
Each practice test contains 50 questions with a 100-minute practice window. Five tests contain 250 questions, and all ten contain 500.
How are the 50 practice questions distributed?
Each test uses 12 questions for Implement and manage user identities, 14 for Implement authentication and access management, 12 for Plan and implement workload identities, and 12 for Plan and automate identity governance.
Do the SC-300 practice tests include Select TWO questions?
Yes. Each 50-question test contains six Select TWO questions alongside single-response questions. Both required answers must be selected for the item to score.
How is the practice result scored?
Each test returns an estimated practice score on the 1–1000 scale, using 700 as the benchmark.
Do the questions include explanations?
Yes. Every question includes a student-facing explanation that resolves the correct choice and explains why the important alternative does not satisfy the scenario.
Where do the practice questions come from?
The questions are original and written against the SC-300 skills measured effective April 27, 2026. The banks use current Microsoft Entra terminology and focus on practical configuration, integration, governance, monitoring and troubleshooting decisions.
Can I buy just one SC-300 practice test?
Yes. Choose an individual test, the pack of five, or the complete ten-test pack.
Ten full-length practice tests. 500 questions.
