What AWS currently sets on SCS-C03

SCS-C03 replaced SCS-C02 on 2 December 2025. The current guide is built around six content domains and a Specialty-level 750 passing standard.

Written to the current SCS-C03 outline

The current AWS guide expects security professionals to secure cloud solutions across monitoring, incident response, infrastructure, identity, data protection and governance. AWS describes the target candidate as someone with roughly three to five years of experience securing cloud solutions.

The live exam has 50 scored questions and 15 unscored questions that AWS does not identify during the session. These practice papers score all 65 questions. That gives you feedback from every item rather than hiding fifteen questions from the result.

AWS also permits ordering and matching on the current exam. These practice papers use 60 single-answer questions and five clearly marked Select TWO questions, all with four options.

Inside a test

A 170-minute paper built for Security – Specialty decisions

The hard part is rarely remembering a service name. It is separating two AWS controls that both sound plausible, then choosing the one that fits the requirement in the stem.

How it's built

  • 65 questions under a 170-minute practice window
  • 60 single-answer questions
  • 5 Select TWO questions, scored all-or-nothing
  • Every question counts toward the practice result
  • Fixed six-domain distribution in every paper

What the questions test

  • Multi-account security decisions and troubleshooting
  • Detection, logging and incident response choices
  • Network and workload security controls
  • Authentication, authorization and least privilege
  • Encryption, keys, secrets and governance at scale

What comes back

  • Estimated practice score on the 100–1,000 scale
  • 750 used as the readiness benchmark
  • An explanation written for every question
  • Correct reasoning plus the strongest competing choice
  • Fresh paper-to-paper results you can compare

The answer matters. The reason matters more.

A good SCS-C03 question makes at least two options look reasonable. The explanation should tell you which detail in the stem breaks the tie.

Content Domain 1 · DetectionSingle answerFrom Practice Test 10

A SOC analyst has investigated an AWS Security Hub CSPM finding and determined that it is an accepted exception. The analyst wants the finding removed from the normal investigation queue without changing the underlying resource or claiming that the issue can never recur. Which action is MOST appropriate?

  • AChange the finding severity to zero so Security Hub stops generating future findings.
  • BDelete the AWS Config configuration item for the resource.
  • CDisable the entire Security Hub CSPM control for the organization.
  • DSet the finding workflow status to SUPPRESSED.

Why D

Security Hub workflow status tracks the investigation state of an individual finding. SUPPRESSED removes an accepted exception from the normal analyst workflow without changing the resource itself, and it does not prevent a new finding if the condition appears again.

Why C can look tempting

Disabling the control would stop that control at a much broader scope. The stem asks for one accepted finding to leave the investigation queue, not for the organization to stop evaluating that security control.

Domain weights

Every practice paper uses the same six-domain split

AWS publishes percentages for scored exam content. The practice series turns those percentages into fixed counts across all 65 questions, which keeps one paper comparable with the next.

DomainAWS weightQuestions per practice test
1. Detection16%10
2. Incident Response14%9
3. Infrastructure Security18%12
4. Identity and Access Management20%13
5. Data Protection18%12
6. Security Foundations and Governance14%9

Identity and Access Management is the largest scored domain at 20%. Infrastructure Security and Data Protection follow at 18% each.

Questions

About SCS-C03 and these practice tests

The AWS exam

How many questions are on AWS Certified Security – Specialty SCS-C03?

The current exam contains 65 questions and allows 170 minutes. AWS says 50 questions affect your score and 15 are unscored items used for evaluation. The unscored questions are not identified during the exam.

What score do you need to pass SCS-C03?

AWS reports results on a 100–1,000 scale. The minimum passing score for Professional and Specialty exams is 750. That is a scaled score, not a statement that you need 75% correct.

What question types can appear on the current exam?

The current SCS-C03 guide lists multiple choice, multiple response, ordering and matching. Unanswered questions are scored as incorrect, and AWS says there is no penalty for guessing.

How much does the AWS Security – Specialty exam cost?

AWS currently lists Specialty exams at $300 USD. The same pricing tier also applies to AWS Professional exams.

If I fail SCS-C03, when can I retake it?

AWS requires a 14-calendar-day wait after a failed attempt. There is no limit on the number of attempts under the standard retake policy.

How long is the AWS Certified Security – Specialty certification valid?

Three years from the date it is earned. To keep a Specialty certification active, AWS requires you to pass the current version of the corresponding exam before the certification expires.

These practice tests

How many questions are in each full-length practice test?

Each paper contains 65 questions with a 170-minute practice window. Five tests contain 325 questions, and all ten contain 650.

Do the tests follow the current SCS-C03 domains?

Yes. Each paper uses 10 Detection questions, 9 Incident Response, 12 Infrastructure Security, 13 Identity and Access Management, 12 Data Protection, and 9 Security Foundations and Governance.

Do the tests include Select TWO questions?

Yes. Every 65-question paper contains five Select TWO questions alongside 60 single-answer questions. Select TWO items are scored all-or-nothing.

How is the practice result shown?

The practice result uses an estimated 100–1,000 scaled-score presentation and marks 750 as the AWS Specialty passing standard. AWS does not publish a raw-to-scaled conversion, so the practice score is a readiness estimate rather than a claim to reproduce AWS scoring.

Do the practice tests include explanations?

Yes. Every question in the SCS-C03 practice tests has an explanation written to resolve the correct choice and address the strongest competing answer.

Can I buy just one test?

Yes. You can buy any individual test, choose the five-test pack, or get all ten.

Ready when you are

Ten SCS-C03 practice tests. 650 questions.
