Written to the current objectives

The current exam is operational. Fortinet calls out system configuration, device registration, policy and object work, advanced configuration and troubleshooting. The emphasis is on using FortiManager to administer multiple FortiGate devices, not on generic firewall trivia.

These practice tests use a fixed 40-question form, the top end of Fortinet's published 30–40 question range. Every test keeps the same 70-minute limit.

The question bank targets FortiManager 7.6.1 with managed FortiGate devices in a FortiOS 7.6 context. The retired NSE 5 FortiManager exam is not mixed into the set.

Inside a test

Forty questions is long enough for weak workflows to show

FortiManager questions often turn on sequence: what gets imported, what lives in the device database, when a policy package changes state, and what must be installed next. A timed full-length form makes those gaps visible fast.

How it's built

  • 40 questions in every full-length test
  • 70-minute time limit
  • Four answer options per question
  • Single-answer and multiple-response questions
  • Fixed 7 / 8 / 11 / 6 / 8 domain quota

Under the clock

  • Average pace is 1 minute 45 seconds per question
  • Applied scenarios carry more weight than definition recall
  • Configuration, registration and installation workflows recur throughout
  • Troubleshooting questions force you to separate device, ADOM and system state
  • The same format runs across all ten tests

What comes back

  • Your result is measured against the 75% practice-readiness line
  • Every question in the bank carries the correct answer
  • Every item includes a worked explanation
  • Questions are tagged to one of the five current exam domains
  • Fortinet's real exam remains pass/fail with no published numeric cut score

A real question from the FortiManager practice bank

This is the level the set is built around: a concrete administration problem with one control that directly fixes the stated risk.

AdministrationDescribe FortiManager featuresMedium

A shared operations account is being reviewed because too many simultaneous administrator sessions can be opened with the same credentials. Which FortiManager account setting BEST limits that exposure?

  • ASet a maximum login-session count for that administrator account
  • BLower the ADOM revision-retention count for the administrator's assigned ADOMs
  • CEnable policy-package locking because each lock consumes one administrator session
  • DReduce the FortiGuard query timeout because administrator sessions use the same timer

Why A is correct

FortiManager administrator accounts can limit the maximum number of concurrent login sessions for that user. That directly controls the exposure described in the scenario.

Why C is tempting but wrong

Policy-package locking controls configuration concurrency. It does not define how many administrator login sessions the same account may open.

Domain coverage

Fortinet publishes ranges. These tests use fixed quotas inside them.

A live exam can move within Fortinet's published percentage ranges. For consistent comparison across practice tests, every 40-question form uses the same fixed distribution.

DomainFortinet published rangeQuestions per practice testPractice share
Administration15–25%717.5%
Device manager20–30%820%
Policy and objects25–35%1127.5%
Advanced configuration10–20%615%
Troubleshooting20–30%820%

The fixed counts are the practice-test blueprint. Fortinet publishes ranges rather than one exact live-exam question count per domain.

Questions

About the exam and these practice tests

The Fortinet exam

How many questions are on the Fortinet NSE 6 - FortiManager 7.6 Administrator exam?
Fortinet currently lists 30–40 questions with 70 minutes allowed. The tested product versions are FortiManager 7.6.1 and FortiOS 7.6.
What score do I need to pass?
Fortinet reports the exam result as pass or fail and does not publish a numeric passing percentage. A score report is available through the candidate's Pearson VUE account.
What topics does the exam cover?
Fortinet publishes five areas: Administration at 15–25%, Device manager at 20–30%, Policy and objects at 25–35%, Advanced configuration at 10–20%, and Troubleshooting at 20–30%.
How much does the FortiManager exam cost right now?
On 7 October 2026, the fee for NSE 4–6 exams is $200 USD before tax. Fortinet has announced that NSE 4–6 exam fees rise to $210 on 2 November 2026.
If I fail, when can I retake the exam?
Fortinet requires a 15-consecutive-day wait after a failed Pearson VUE proctored NSE exam. An exam that has already been passed cannot be taken again.
Does passing this exam alone earn the NSE 6 in Secure Networking certification?
No. The current NSE 6 in Secure Networking certification requires an active NSE 4 FortiOS certification plus one proctored NSE 6 Secure Networking exam completed within two years. The certification is valid for two years from the date the most recent requirement is completed.

These practice tests

How long is each full-length practice test?
Each test contains 40 questions and uses a 70-minute time limit. Across all ten tests, the bank contains 400 questions.
Why do the practice tests use 40 questions?
Fortinet publishes a live-exam range of 30–40 questions. The practice bank uses a fixed 40-question form so every set gives you the same amount of work and can be compared consistently.
What does the 75% score mean?
It is the internal practice-readiness threshold used by these tests. It is not a Fortinet cut score. Fortinet publishes the certification exam result as pass or fail.
Are the ten tests weighted the same way?
Yes. Every 40-question form uses 7 Administration questions, 8 Device manager, 11 Policy and objects, 6 Advanced configuration and 8 Troubleshooting questions. Each fixed quota sits inside Fortinet's published domain range.
Do these practice tests use the retired NSE 5 FortiManager exam?
No. The question bank is built for the current Fortinet NSE 6 - FortiManager 7.6 Administrator exam released on 15 July 2026, using FortiManager 7.6.1 and FortiOS 7.6.
What question formats are used in the practice bank?
The practice bank uses four-option single-answer and multiple-response questions. Fortinet's wider NSE exam program can also use drag-and-drop items.
