What Palo Alto Networks currently sets
The current Security Operations Professional datasheet is dated July 2026. It puts the exam at Professional level and centers the blueprint on Cortex XDR, Cortex XSOAR, Cortex XSIAM and the SOC workflows around them.
| Certification level | Professional |
| Exam duration | 90 minutes |
| Exam format | Multiple-choice questions |
| Live question count | Not published in the current datasheet |
| Passing score | 860 on a 300–1000 scale |
| Delivery | Pearson VUE |
| Language | English |
| Exam fee | US $200 |
| Certification validity | 2 years |
Written to the July 2026 blueprint
The current blueprint has five domains. Security Operations Fundamentals is the largest at 25%, followed by Cortex XDR at 23% and Cortex XSIAM at 20%. Threat Intelligence and Incident / Case Response and Cortex XSOAR each carry 16%.
The live exam question count is not published in the current datasheet. These practice tests use a fixed 100-question paper because the published weights then map cleanly to 25, 16, 23, 16 and 20 questions. That keeps one paper comparable with the next.
The questions are original and written against the published objectives. The bank focuses on SOC judgment: triage, response, threat intelligence, XDR investigation, XSOAR orchestration and XSIAM operations.
A fixed paper makes your next score worth comparing
One hundred questions is deliberate. So is the domain split. When test 6 lands higher than test 2, the workload and weighting have not quietly changed underneath you.
How it is built
- 100 questions in every test
- Exact 25 / 16 / 23 / 16 / 20 domain counts
- 92 single-answer questions
- 8 clearly marked choose-TWO questions
- Questions mapped to the July 2026 objectives
Under the clock
- 90 minutes from start to finish
- About 54 seconds per question at an even pace
- Security Operations Fundamentals carries 25 questions
- Choose-TWO items are scored all-or-nothing
- The same domain workload appears in every paper
What the review teaches
- Every question has a written explanation
- The reasoning explains why the keyed option fits
- Plausible wrong answers are addressed
- Questions span Cortex XDR, XSOAR and XSIAM work
- Your practice score uses the 300–1000 scale and 860 benchmark
One question, with the reasoning left in
The useful part is not seeing C highlighted. It is understanding why the live dashboard is attractive and still wrong for a fixed executive reporting period.
An executive wants a recurring summary that preserves the same reporting period each time, while analysts need a live view of the current queue. Which output should the SOC create for the executive?
- AA live dashboard that changes whenever the queue changes
- BA threat hunt that reruns whenever leadership opens the page
- CA scheduled report with a defined reporting period
- DA case note that analysts update during each investigation
Why C
A scheduled report gives the executive a repeatable point-in-time summary for the defined period. That makes one reporting cycle comparable with the next.
Why A is tempting
A live dashboard is useful for the analysts managing the current queue, but its values move as the queue changes. That makes it the wrong output when the requirement is a fixed recurring reporting period.
All five domains, at the published weights
The practice papers convert the official percentages directly into whole questions. No domain gets flattened just to make the paper easier to assemble.
| Domain | Palo Alto Networks weight | Questions per 100-question test |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Security Operations Fundamentals | 25% | 25 |
| 2. Threat Intelligence and Incident / Case Response | 16% | 16 |
| 3. Cortex XDR | 23% | 23 |
| 4. Cortex XSOAR | 16% | 16 |
| 5. Cortex XSIAM | 20% | 20 |
Security Operations Fundamentals and Cortex XDR together account for 48% of the published exam score.
